I am preparing these reading materials for my class and strongly believe that you would be interested in and benefited by reading these articles.<\/p>\n

These are a series of articles published in this issue of Nature Medicine about this year’s Lasker Awards<\/a>, the most prestigious award for biomedical research in this country.<\/p>\n

There is an introductory article written by the Chairman of the Awards Jury, Joseph Goldstein<\/a>, on the importance of the findings and a great summary of wisdom on doing great research; this is followed by the articles written by the recipients that give a personal account on the discovery process. While there is no guarantee that one will succeed by following their recipe, but there is always a lesson to learn from these good scientists. In particular, how they persisted and determined to look for an answer over many years.<\/p>\n
